"Stampy Fishes" Frame

I’m happy to share this frame showing off a scene of "Stampy Fishes".
Let me show you how fun and easy is this project to make.
I started to apply a generous among of watercolor on my cold press watercolor paper with a wide flat brush. Then I wet my “Fine Vine” foam stamp with only water and stamped it on my shiny (still slightly wet) surface leaving the foam stamp on the paper while applying a light pressure for 10-15 seconds.
Kae Pea showed this technique during the World Watercolor Month challenge last month. I love this technique that allows getting a kind of “ghost” print look.
Then, I added some texture by stamping “Handwritten Letter 1788” and “Twig Cross Section 1” stamps from 100 Proof Press with some “Aurora Teal” Moonlight Duo Ink pad, staying in similar color tone but darker than the watercolor I used for bringing some contrast.
Next, I made my fishes tracing some different fish shapes on hot press watercolor paper. I used hot press watercolor paper because it is easier to get a crisp stamped impression.
Tip: If you want to use cold press watercolor paper I recommend using a stamping platform. It is the best way to get a crisp impression particularly on textured paper.
Then, I stamped inside the fishes with the stamps “Rosa” and “Mixed Media Hatch Marks” from Rubbermoon and “Twig Cross Section 2”, “Small Sprig with Leaves”, “Twig Cross Section 1” and “Spry Evergreen Branch” from 100 Proof Press. I used different stamps for the tail and body parts. As you can see possibilities are endless to decorate these cute fishes especially with your favorite Rubbermoon, 100 Proof Press and ArtFoamies stamps.
PS: I have to mention that I got the idea of making these fishes from a french artist named “Pinklola69” that I found on Instagram. I thought it was a great idea to share.
I chose to paint my fishes with watercolor and brought a touch of lightening with a white posca pen.
To finish it up, I glued down my fishes and added more stamping using the “Dot Maker” stamp and the three words “Cursive Create”, “Cursive Imagine” and “Cursive Inspire” stamps from Rubbermoon on top of each fish with some “Moonlight” VersaFine Clair ink pad (just a matter of color preference).
